The Best Time to Tie the Knot: Tips for Choosing the Date for Your Vista Wedding
When it comes to wedding planning, one of the first (and arguably most important) decisions you'll make is choosing your wedding date. The date you choose will determine not only the season in which your wedding will take place, but also what vendors will be available and how much you can expect to pay. With so much riding on your wedding date, it's no wonder that choosing the right one can feel like a daunting task. But have no fear! We're here to help with a few tips for choosing the best time to tie the knot.
1. Consider the Season
One of the first things you should take into account when choosing your wedding date is the season in which you want to get married. Do you picture yourself saying "I do" surrounded by beautiful fall foliage? Or maybe you've always dreamed of a winter wonderland wedding complete with a snow-capped mountainside ceremony followed by a roaring fire in the reception hall. Whatever season speaks to you, keep in mind that peak wedding season (May through October) tends to be more expensive than getting married during the off-season (November through April). So if you're looking to save some money, consider getting married during the winter or early spring.
2. Check Your Vendors' Availability
Another important factor to consider when choosing your wedding date is vendor availability. The sooner you nail down a date, the better chance you have of securing your first choice of vendors (especially if you're set on a specific photographer, florist, etc.). Once you have an idea of who you want to work with, reach out and see what dates they have open. If your dream vendor is only available on certain dates, that should help narrow down your decision.
3. Give Yourself Enough Time to Plan
Wedding planning can be overwhelming, so it's important to give yourself enough time to get everything done. Generally speaking, we recommend giving yourself at least 12 months (and up to 18 months if possible) to plan your big day. This will ensure that you don't feel rushed and can take care of all the details without having to cut corners. Of course, every situation is different and some couples are able to plan their weddings in as little as six months and still pull off a gorgeous event. But if you can swing it, 12-18 months is ideal.
Choosing your wedding date is a big decision—but with a little thoughtfulness and planning, you can find the perfect time for your big day! Consider the season, check your vendors' availability, and give yourself enough time to plan—and before you know it, you'll be saying "I do."
